Staying Healthy When Traveling

Posted by on Tuesday, July 3, 2018

It’s always much easier to stay on a routine when you are home but when you are traveling it is easy to be thrown off your regular daily schedule.

With the holiday weekend coming up and Summer being a busy time of travel I wanted to share my tips on how to keep your skin glowing and body healthy and fit when you are traveling.

Travel Prep:

Increase your intake of omega-3's a couple of days prior to send off to protect your skin cells from stress and dehydration.

Get your Omega 3 Supplements HERE

Salmon, chia seeds, walnuts, or cod liver oil are all great options with over 2,000 mg per serving

Avoid harsh, drying treatments before travel. Our skin needs every last bit of moisture, so it's best to bypass peels and most acids.

Pack your sneakers and some exercise bands to be sure you stay active when you travel.

Bring snacks with you so that you always have healthy options so you don’t have to stop for fast food or junk. Protein bars, nuts, dried fruit, jerky, and popcorn are all great healthy snacks that travel well.

While Traveling.

Apply a moisturizer with or hydration serum support hydrated skin.

This one is my favorite!

A good under eye gel is great to help to plump fine lines around the eyes and decreasing puffiness.

Here is my favorite one!

Limit alcohol and caffeine and drink plenty of water. Alcohol and caffeine are very dehydrating and traveling whether by plane or car can be dehydrating in itself. It is important to drink plenty of water to help hydrate the body.

Move! Move as much as possible, put those sneakers on and staying active will help to keep up your energy

Stretch. Take a few minutes a day to stretch can help to make you feel relaxed and refreshed. Traveling can make you so stiff and sore, stretching is a great way to restore your body.

Eat breakfast and your usual scheduled meals. Try to stick to your regular eating habits when you are traveling. Fill up on lean protein and vegetables and of course save room for tasting some of the local specialties.

Add some collagen to your drinks. Vital Proteins Collagen Beauty Water are my favorite and come in handy travel sticks you can keep in your bag. (get them here) The added collagen and hyaluronic acid will help support healthy, hydrated skin.

Take your vitamins. If you are on a regular schedule with your vitamins you should continue when you are traveling. Adding probiotics and digestive enzymes are also good to incorporate when you travel to help with digestion and any guy issues you may encounter.

Post Travel:

Cleanse your face to remove dirt and oil, and to help calm down from the day's stress. (my favorite cleanser here)

Apply hydrating mask and massage. Apply moisturizer on fingertips and massage the cream in upward, outward circular motions. Follow the natural muscle direction and repeat.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! You will probably be dehydrated from your travels so drinking lots of water will help to restore hydration back to your body.

Go back to your regular eating and workout schedule. You may have overindulged a little on your travels but that doesn’t mean that you should punish yourself by starving or overexercising. Get back to your normal schedule of eating and working out.

I hope you find some of these tips helpful and you have a great holiday!
