How to Feel Better When You Are Feeling Sick

Posted by on Thursday, January 10, 2019
Ah, it’s that time of year where everyone is sneezing and coughing and trying to get you sick!

But not you!

You are trying to stay healthy and keep that immune system up!

A couple of weeks ago I sent you an email on how to keep up your immunity, (if you missed it you can read it HERE) to keep you from getting sick.

But if you happen to be feeling under the weather here are some of my suggestions on how to get better asap!

Get plenty of rest, the body needs rest to build strength and fight off a virus and Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Be sure to keep all surfaces sterile and hands washed and germ free. My favorite products for this is Theives from Young Living

Take hot showers to help clear nasal passages and do gentle moments to encourage lymph flow.

Take a time out and focus on your self care. Avoid any stressful situations as much as possible that can prolong healing time.

Eat fresh fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C, and supplements with some green juices or greens powder.

Eat lean protein; turkey, chicken and fish. Protein is essential to support the immune system and to help you back to health.

Use spices! Add garlic or turmeric to food and soups and broths to help boost immunity and help to lower inflammation in the body. Use cloves and rosemary for their antioxidant properties.

Sip on bone broth to help build immunity and support gut health.

Avoid sugar and dairy which causes more inflammation and can increase congestion and mucus build up.

Supplements I recommend can be found HERE

Immunitone Plus (Designs for Health) is a comprehensive herbal formula that is designed to support healthy immune system function. It contains herbs that support normal natural killer (NK) cell activity and the balance of cytokines, which are the regulatory proteins released by immune cells as part of a normal immune system response. This formula contains green tea standardized to a very high level of EGCg as well as standardized Echinacea augustifolia, and Andrographis paniculata.

Ginger Tussin (Designs for Health) Syrup is a pleasant-tasting, throat soothing, herbal syrup elixir with immune-supportive properties. It features ginger and the American herb osha for immune support, along with wild cherry bark to soothe the throat and for the occasional cough.

C + BioFizz is a delicious, effervescent, orange-flavored powder easily provides therapeutic dosing of vitamin C and bioflavonoids. Vitamin C can active the immune systems and hep to fight colds.

Probiotic will help to keep the gut flora balanced and help to increase immune response.

Vitamin D3 If you definitely have the flu (high fever, body aches, respiratory symptoms, cough, congestion, runny nose), then take 25,000 IU of Vitamin D3 at the first signs of fever or flu-like symptoms. Repeat this dose daily for 3 days.

Oscillococcinum by Boiron. Taken at the first sign of flu-like symptoms (whether you have the flu or not), this homeopathic remedy can help temper some of the worst symptoms, including the fever and body aches. Add to this Elderberry syrup by Gaia. This high antioxidant fruit extract, has anti-infective properties against the flu virus. It actually prevents it from spreading from cell to cell.
